This is the 26th year for Young Chautauqua in Northern Nevada. We are a group dedicated to "Making History come alive." We are scholars aged 8 through 18 who personify characters from history.  We also have an active group of parents and volunteers who support us as we prepare for and present our characters to the public in various venues.  Silver State Young Chautauqua is a 501(c)(3) education organization.  Contributions and donations to SSYC are tax deductible to the extent of IRS regulations.  


Ardynne Sprinkle, Chair Retired Washoe County School District teacher, having served 30 years as the high school Gifted Program Facilitator. Ardynne has a degree in education and theater arts, and has been a Young Chautauqua grandparent and volunteer for 10 years.

Kelsey Piechocki, Vice Chair Retired (25 years) nonprofit executive with over 16 years of Chautauqua experience as both a parent and volunteer.
Jackie Colton, Treasurer 4-year Young Chautauqua veteran and SSYC Treasurer for the past 3 years.  Jackie is a retired Senior Accounting Technician for the Truckee Sanitary District.

Michael D. Sprinkle, Secretary 10-year participant in the Young Chautauqua program.  Michael is currently serving as an SSYC officer and volunteer while attending the University of Nevada, Reno.

Advisory Board:

Bob Piechocki Past Chair.  Bob is a retired Financial Advisor and has been a Young Chautauqua volunteer for 16 years.  Bob's daughter was a Young Chautauquan for 10 years.

Dr. John Barker Retired educator and past Director of the Nevada National History Day program. Dr. Barker has been a Young Chautauqua volunteer for 4 years.

Donna George Grandparent volunteer for Young Chautauqua for 4 years. Donna fills the important role as Stage Manager during our annual Artown performances at the National Automobile Museum theater.
Bonnie Drinkwater

Bonnie is the founder and Managing Partner of Drinkwater Eaton Law Offices in Reno and focuses her practice on general business, employment and intellectual property law.  She is a past Chair of SSYC.  Bonnie is also a YC parent.  Currently, she has a daughter and son in the Young Chautauqua program. Bonnie has been a Young Chautauqua volunteer for 6 years and truly enjoys working and learning alongside the scholars.  
Randy HodgesAdjunct Professor in the Environmental Sciences Department at William Jessup University and past Chair of SSYC.  Two of Randy's daughters were Young Chautauquans and he has been a Young Chautauqua volunteer for 8 years.
